Residential Building Litigation
Brett accepts engagements from and has been engaged to act on behalf of owners, builders, developers, and other industry professionals involved in residential building litigation – from single home contracts to multi-unit residential developements.
Adjudication under the Victorian Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act
Brett has been a panel adjudicator with Building Adjudication Victoria from 2004 to 2016. In that capacity he has been engaged to adjudicate and provide determinations on numerous claims made under the Act.
He is also engaged to prepare adjudication applications under the Act and to prepare adjudication responses under the Act.
Building Warranty Insurance
Brett was engaged for many years – both as solicitor and as barrister – on behalf of most of the building warranty insurers in Victoria and continues still to be engaged by one of the few remaining private warranty insurers acting in the State.
He has extensive experience and knowledge in the area, and currently takes engagements from those who require specialist advice and expertise in the area.
Brett was a concreter for 12 years before commencing his law degree in 1992.
